Provenance:

- Christopher Cutts Gallery, Toronto.

- Private collection.

- Sotheby’s Hong Kong, "Contemporary Discoveries | Down the Rabbit Hole”, 1 March 2023, lot 1187.

- Private collection, Madrid.

Work published on 30 September 2017 on Matías Sánchez's Instagram.

He trained as a painter in Seville, the city where he lives. He has had many solo exhibitions, both national and international. Through a brushstroke, loaded with matter (oil), direct, dynamic, free, pure, expressionist, Sánchez establishes a language of his own personal experience. The need to create leads him to look for protagonists anywhere. The themes are variable but certain icons are repeated with symbolic value.

Condition Report:

Examined within the frame, this work is in excellent condition overall. Minor paper accretion was noted to the right edge of the hat. No restoration is evident when examined under UV light.
