ST-ART, Strasbourg's 14th European Contemporary Art Fair, will take place at the Strasbourg Exhibition Centre in Wacken from 26th to 30th November 2009, with preview night on Wednesday 25th November. At Strasbourg Evénements, we will be pursuing our aim to make ST-ART a keystone event in the French cultural landscape. As every year since 2005, ST-ART will be underlining its position as a European Fair by paying particular homage to Istanbul. This represents a unique opportunity to put the spotlight on this capital city's rich cultural heritage and give an overview of its current creative trends. ST-ART is also the only French Fair to welcome Galleries from the 4 corners of France. Many renowned artists today have been launched by these professionals, thereby proving the real impact of decentralisation. ST-ART prides itself on being open and accessible to all, and, setting taboos and elitism aside, meets the expectations of a broad-ranging public from the layman to the enlightened art lover. The major artistic trends of the last 50 years will be on display here, but young artists will also be highlighted in all forms of artistic expression so that each visitor can discover emerging talent at prices that are still affordable. Finally, at Strasbourg Evénements we focus on making the event friendly and festive by limiting the number of participating galleries to around 100 and setting up alternative events to enhance the Fair's attraction. With more than 28,000 visitors, ST-ART is acclaimed by all the media as the top-ranking quality Fair in France outside Paris. We would like to spend a moment to cast our thoughts to Olivier Billiard, our Artistic Director, who passed away a short time ago.
